The genus Achatina is a small group of snails from the family Achatinidae. Most often, we can meet breeders with the species Achatina achatina, which is the largest land snail in the world, it can grow up to approx. 20 cm in the shell. This is the slowest growing species, reaching its final size only after several years. It reproduces from 2 years of age and lives up to 10 years. A. achatina is the only species of this genus that reproduces readily. The eggs of this genus are small, there are 30-500 eggs in a clutch depending on the species and they incubate for 4 weeks.
