Lissachatina
The genus Lissachatina includes species formerly included in the genus Achatina. Unlike Archachatinas, they are characterized by a pointed apex and do not have a "V"-shaped skin at the end of the leg. This genus includes smaller (e.g. Liss. iredalei) and larger species (e.g. Liss. reticulata). Breeding of species from this genus is easy, and all of them reproduce willingly. They breed from 5-12 months of age depending on the species. The eggs are small, there are usually 30-500 eggs in a clutch depending on the species and they incubate for 1-2 weeks. Three species are even oviparous, i.e. they "give birth" directly to live young (Liss. craveni, Liss. iredalei and Liss. zanzibarica). A species of Liss. immaculata immaculata is known for its ability to self-fertilize (which is undesirable for preserving quality genes in breeding). In this genus, the selection of young unsuitable for further breeding is particularly important. They live for about 3-5 years.
